AND HERE IS MY VERY LAST JOKE:

"Humans" would have ONLY two goals: (cf. also Elbs 2006, References)

First goal: maintaining upright as best as POSSIBLE all (already) existing individual bodies – automatically, technically, pragmatically (eventually without any bureaucrats, lawyers, economists, politicians and parents, relatives, social peer-groups – and all other arbitrary and uncertain [permanently shifting] things...).
In fact, this would perhaps be the ONLY REAL "LUXURY" (or: handicap) that "we" COULD afford (as a "society"): maintaining upright all already existing bodies...

Second goal: improving maps (and: map-makers? Selves? Potential landscapes? [1]) on all temporal and spatial scales,
which eventually would enABLE me to (elegantly, "aesthetically") navigate through all possible, real, virtual & social landscapes without encountering any obstacles, "uncertainties", and perturbations (shifts) any more
(including landscapes of protein networks, landscapes of disease networks, landscapes on Mars, historical landscapes, fitness landscapes, fictional landscapes, cinematic landscapes, social landscapes, etc. etc. etc.).

As long as these two big and clear goals are not satisfied GLOBALLY, and as long as seemingly most biased map-makers (or: higher primates?) seem to be unconsciously struggling for their own small egotistical ("social", monetary, and other terribly "arbitrary" and LOCAL-selective...) goals within some extreme "social bias" instead, "we" CAN NOT be called "being civilized" at all...

And by the way:
Map-makers like SCIENTISTS (as TECHNICIANS rather than astrologists, philosophers, and theologians) DO NEVER seek for "FIRST CAUSES" (including childish things like "Big Bangs", "first movers", etc.) NOR FOR some "EXPLANATIONS", but rather PRAGMATICALLY just try to develop ever MORE precise MAPS (on all spatiotemporal scales, of course...) that enABLE them to manipulate, to control, and to navigate through "the world" and its permanent SHIFTS and contingent perturbations (cf. [2]) ever BETTER (that means: in an ever more predictABLE way).
THAT's ALL.
Or in short: there is only technics and technicians (and there will always be better TECHNICIANS than I [OE] myself...) – everything else may only be religion... (And therefore, the only substantial "progress" in the last five thousand years may have been the development of ever more refined mapping tools with the ultimate goal of some "pure" (!) GLOBAL mapping of shifts and maps with the least preconceived "scientific" hypotheses and (methodical) biases...).

And by the way:
REAL scientists and map-makers do NEVER crave for primitive-brute rewards like money, sex, social status, etc. – they only want to POSSESS the best maps (or to have the "best" POTENTIAL landscapes), which is in fact the ONLY REAL RICHNESS you CAN POSSESS at all...

Accordingly, the best surgeon (who does not know any "Jews", "Americans", "Israelis", "Germans", "Muslims", etc., either – because he only knows individual genomes, proteomes, bodies, etc. within some "personalized medicine") does never operate for money, sex, or social status, but rather for some pure "aesthetic" pleasure and feeling of total control (FLOW) due to his possessing the best maps and perfect navigational skills (here: while "navigating" through the landscape of bodies, proteomes, genomes, lesions, and diseases)...

... since "evolution" (i.e., TOTAL pro-CREATION) may not be so much about some "struggle for life", but rather: a struggle for the best (and most POWERful) maps... (and by the way: this "inherently rewarding POTENTIAL of maps" and this nearly SELFfulfilling struggle for ever MORE perfect maps may be a distinguished characteristic of H. sapiens, and perhaps of some "intelligent" dolphins and "playful" cetaceans as well...).

HOWEVER, producing and PRO-CREATING ever BETTER (i.e., ever "more ordered" and "more global") MAPS may also (thermodynamically...) result in producing EVER MORE WASTE (as you can now see nearly EVERYWHERE: ever more paintings, ever more images, ever more anti-theories, ever more airplanes, ever more songs, ever more texts, ever more books, ever more web-pages, etc. ...).
